8 Great Photo Stylist Secrets

Lane Bryant’s photo shoot stylist Meagan shares some of her stylist secrets to help you look as good as our models!

Working on set every month in New York for our campaign photo shoots, I have to keep an arsenal of styling weapons by my side so our models and clothes look their very best. Here are the items I can’t live without:

1. Topstick Wig Tape is my best friend! It’s ten times stronger than the average double stick tape. It’s great for keeping a button down shirt that’s pulling at the bust closed. It also helps keep flimsy straps from falling when taped to your bra strap. Or say you’re jeans are too long but you don’t have time to get to the tailor. Place a strip of tape along inside of hem, roll up to desired length and press.

2. Silicone Nipple Covers -  Say you have a thin cotton bra and tee on that don’t quite provide the modest coverage you need. Place these nude covers over your nipples and voila, thin fabrics (and cold weather) are no longer an issue.

3. Spanx - Every woman needs a pair of Spanx in her wardrobe. The Slim Cognito Body Shaper is our favorite on set because it slims from just below the bust to above knee, so there are no bulges in between. The Spanx Hide & Sleek is the best option for when wearing a shorter hemline.

4. Plunge Bra - I love using the plunge bra on our models because it gives lots of lift and creates perfect cleavage! The deep plunging neckline allows it be worn practically any top.  Plus, the versatile straps allow it to also work with halter tops and racer back tanks.

5. Back Smoothing Bra - Every woman battles with bra back bulge. This bra by Cacique is like the Spanx of bras. With its wide back wings, it smoothes out any bumps and bulges, thus giving the back a nice, smooth look. So, no need to avoid your whisper-thin tees because this bra has your problems covered!

Items to keep in your car or purse for on-the-go emergencies

6. Black Sharpie  - This is a great for covering scuffs on black shoes. Keep one in your car or purse for quick touch ups.

7. Static Guard - Not only does this ward of static cling, it also helps tone down flyaway hair.

8. Gal Pal Deodorant Remover - Gets out those pesky white marks in a jiffy!
