A perfect pedicure is a summertime must-have, but time and budget constraints sometimes make it tough to keep you on your polished toes.
Not to worry! Follow these simple steps to treat your tootsies to a DIY manicure for a sandal-ready look all season long.
Step #1 Soak your feet in an Epsom salt-infused bath of warm water for 5 minutes. Make sure the water isn’t too hot – hot water can strip your skin of essential oils.
Step #2 Using a pumice stone or foot scrub (make your own with olive oil and raw sugar), exfoliate your feet, paying special attention to heels which tend to be dry. Rinse well and pat (don’t rub) dry with a towel.
Step #3 Apply moisturizer and cuticle cream. Gently massage the arches of your feet by working your thumbs in with firm pressure. Take care when pushing cuticles back with cuticle stick – a Popsicle stick works, too!
Step #4 Clip and file each toenail into your preferred shape; a square-oval shape is the most popular. Buff the tops of each nail for the smoothest look.
Step #5 Wipe an acetone-soaked cotton swab over each toenail to remove any excess oil and moisture.
Step #6 Apply a thin coat of clear base polish and let dry thoroughly.
Step #7 Apply 2 coats of your favorite color – we love the fun colors and chip- resistant colors of OPI. Be sure to wait for 2 minutes in between each coat, letting each coat dry thoroughly.
Step #8 Top off your pedi with a clear topcoat and let dry for at least an hour before wearing your favorite sandals.
Dip Your toes in Cacique nail color for a rainbow of polished possibilities.
